Teeth Whitening Side Effects

Many professional teeth whitening bleaching methods use hydrogen peroxide. Dentists use hydrogen peroxide in concentrations ranging from 15 percent to 35 percent in conjunction with a light or laser to accelerate the whitening process. Often people are worried about the side effects and possible damage that can be caused from its use. These levels of hydrogen peroxide are approved safe by the ADA. However, there are some side effects. The most common include temporary tooth sensitivity, painful gums and aching teeth. These problems normally subside very shortly after the procedure. On very rare occasions, irreversible or long-term tooth damage has been reported. Because of the intensity of professional tooth whitening treatments, many people opt to use at-home products which are used over a period of weeks, rather than one or two hours. Since the whitening procedure is spread out over time, you may find you experience fewer side effects with home treatments. At Makeup.com, you can buy a variety of home teeth whitening products from brands such as GoSMILE.
