May 9, 2008, Newsletter Issue #266: Eye Shape and Eyebrow Grooming

Tip of the Week

Eyes are usually categorized into three categories. Oval, round and slanted. Then they are subcategorized into more groups including small eyes, large eyes, hooded eyes, deep-set eyes and wide set eyes. Eye shape does not play a major role in shaping your eyebrows. You want your eyebrows to look well groomed and not too thick or too thin. The best places to start when shaping your eyebrows is look in the mirror and determine where you brow starts. Hold a pencil vertically against one nostril, where the pencil hits your brow is a good starting place. Do the same on the other side. Then hold the pencil again at the nostril and point it vertically to the corner of your eye, this is where your brows should end.
To appropriately shape your eyebrows the beginning of the brow should be aligned with the center of the nostril and the arch should fall over the back third of the eye. The end of the brow should be aligned with the corner of your eyes. You do not want to have “bushy eyebrows” but over tweezing can be detrimental. Your eyebrows can change the look of your entire face, so shape carefully. If you're not sure go to a professional and have them start the shape for you to keep up!
