January 25, 2002, Newsletter Issue #72: Last Chance...Smoky Eyes

Tip of the Week

A "smoky eye" look is usually achieved by using a black eyeliner. There are a few types to choose from. From my experience as a makeup artist, a liquid or cake eyeliner stays on the longest. The brush lets you achieve a fine line. You can apply to both top and bottom lashes.
If you think you can`t draw a straight line, rest your elbow on the counter. Hold your head back and draw a fine line from corner to corner. Use a small, dry brush to blend the edges. Professional trick: use a flesh toned pencil above the line on the eyelid to give it a more polished look.
If you prefer using a pencil, choose one that can be sharpened if you want a fine line. For a thicker line, use a kohl pencil (Cleopatra`s favorite).
